Brandix India, KSEZ ink MoUs with Chinese firms.
Brandix India Apparel City (BIAC) has joined hands with four Chinese players to facilitate direct investment in home textiles in its facility located at Atchuthapuram mandal in the district.

BIAC signed MoUs with Jiangsu Kingday Textile Co Limited, Zhejiang Hengyuan Chemical Fiber Group, Kunshan Rising Textile and Garment Co Limited as well as Sumec Textile and Light Industry Co Limited on Friday during CM N Chandrababu Naidu's visit to China to garner investments for AP. Spread over

1,000 acres, BIAC has 10 manufacturing units, including UK-based Quantum Clothing, Ocean India, Seeds Intimate Apparel, Pioneer Elastics, Shore to Shore, Vardhman Yarns and Threads Limited, International Trimmings and Labels, Ribest Ribbons and Bows (India) Private Limited, S&S Industries, Screenline Printing apart from three of its own units involved in manufacturing ladies underwear and T-shirts.

BIAC also has an effluent treatment plant with a capacity of treating 56 million litres of effluent discharge, which is then piped 9 km and discharged offshore, according to details available on its website.

Incidentally, a Chinese delegation led by the secretary general of the China Chamber of Commerce along with senior officials of leading Chinese apparel and textile manufacturing companies had visited BIAC in 2013 to review the viability of Chinese companies setting up shop there due to the value proposition the facility offers, the BIAC website said.

At the same time, Kakinada SEZ signed an MoU with Hangzhou Huatong Inc for setting up a toys manufacturing unit in Kakinada SEZ. The unit is expected provide employment to 1,500 people and exports of USD 100 million are expected in the first year. An additional 5,000 people would be employed later taking the exports to more than USD 250 million in the subsequent 18 months, a release issued by the AP government said. Secretary for energy, infrastructure and investment, Ajay Jain, also inked MoUs for firms involved in solar manufacturing including JA Solar Investment (Hong Kong) Limited, Lerri Solar Technology Co Limited, Trina Solar Energy Development and Shanghai New Energy Industry Association. to facilitate direct investment in field of solar energy and other renewable energy sectors. Secretary of industries and commerce department, SS Rawat, also signed an MoU with Fosun Industrial Holdings Limited to facilitiate direct investment in TMT, insurance, healthcare and tourism.
