|Construction will start this year on a 16-kilometre jet fuel pipeline extension connecting Emirates National Oil Company’s (Enoc) storage terminal in Jebel Ali to Al Maktoum International at Dubai World Central (DWC).|
Enoc subsidiary Horizon Terminals will build the pipeline with construction to start in the fourth quarter 2016 and be operational in the fourth quarter of 2016, according to an emailed Enoc statement on Wednesday.
Front end engineering and design for the Al Maktoum International pipeline is underway, the statement said.
A 58 kilometre pipeline has connected Dubai International with the Jebel Ali storage terminal since March 2015. The storage terminal has a capacity of 141,500 cubic metres, according to Enoc.
Once the new Al Maktoum International pipeline extension is completed Enoc says it will be able to provide 60 per cent of Dubai’s two commercial airports jet fuel forecast demand in 2050.
The pipeline extension was announced at an Enoc stakeholders event on Wednesday attended by Shaikh Ahmad Bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Airports, President of Dubai Civil Aviation, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, and Chairman of Dubai World.
