|To bring air travel closer to the people and also make it affordable, the Telangana government has entered into an MoU with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Airports Authority of India that would help it develop smaller airports in nine identified places in Telangana.|
The MoU was signed by the officials in the presence of IT Minister K.T. Rama Rao and the Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju in New Delhi on Wednesday. Mr. K.T. Rama Rao said the MoU will help the government to develop existing but unused airports in small cities and also new airports to improve connectivity. As of now the only functional airport in Telangana is the Shamshabad airport.
The government now wants to improve connectivity to nine cities like Warangal and Kothagudem through the Airports Authority of India. Mr. Rama Rao urged Mr. Ashok Gajapathi Raju to lease out four hangars in the Begumpet Airport for Skill Development Training Academy and Mr. Raju assured him that a decision would be taken soon after consulting with the officials. Mr. Rao thanked Mr. Raju for granting technical permission for its proposal to develop Kothagudem airport.
Later, the IT Minister also met Industries Minister, Anant Geethe for reviving the CCI cement factory in Adilabad and the State government would extend all the support needed. He also met Textiles Minister, Smriti Irani and informed the government’s initiative of public representatives wearing handlooms at least one day in a week.
