Six-laning of Bengaluru-Mysuru road in 6 months.
In a major relief for people travelling between Bengaluru and Mysuru, work on the six-laning of Bengaluru-Mysuru expressway is likely to be started in six months.

Speaking at an event organized by Institution of Engineers (India) here on Wednesday, B T Jwalendra Kumar, project director, National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said, the final date of submissionof bids for the expressway project is July 28.

“Nearly 10 companies, including foreign firms Malaysia have already expressed interest in this project. We will soon finalize the firms for the project which is divided into two packages after technical evaluation once the bids are submitted,” he said.

“It will take just 90 minutes to reach Mysuru from Bengaluru once the project is completed,” he added. The project will cover a distance of 118 km between Panchamukhi temple after NICE road in Bengaluru and Columbia Asia hospital junction in Mysuru.

He said toll for a car from Bengaluru and Mysuru on the expressway will be around `200. The cost of construction of the project will be `4,700 crore and land acquisition will need another `2,700 crore, he said.

He said another proposed Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway starting at Hoskote is expected to reduce travel time to nearly two and half hours.
