|The long pending proposal of a four-lane elevated corridor from Uppal to Narapally will be taken up this year with an outlay of ₹ 950 crore, and the money would be released in one instalment, according to the Uppal MLA, NVSS Prabhakar.|
An assurance and also letter to this effect was given to Mr. Prabhakar by the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari when the former met him in New Delhi recently. Mr. Prabhakar in a statement here said that he also received the sanction letter for the 6.4 km stretch that will ease the highly congested traffic on the Warangal highway, particularly the Uppal stretch.
He said it will be a four-lane elevated corridor and a six-lane road with a width of 150 ft. He said the Minister directed the Highway authorities to complete the project in a time bound manner and the required project cost of ₹950 crore will be released in one instalment during this financial year only. The money would be used for the corridor, Uppal road development, land acquisition and other related works.
Mr. Prabhakar said the Minister also directed the officials to call tenders at the earliest and take up land acquisition on war footing. He thanked the Minister for releasing the funds in one instalment and this is the first-of-its-kind project in the city.
