|Minister for Information Technology and Panchayat Raj Nara Lokesh has said that the State Government would allot Rs.150 crore for construction of mini stadiums in villages. The mini stadiums would be built with a cost of Rs.1 crore, he said. More than 700 players across the country are taking part in the tourney.|
Mr. Lokesh inaugurated the All India Senior Ranking Badminton Tournament- 2017 being held at Guntur Club here and said that AP government has been encouraging Badminton for many years.
Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu allotted land on the campus of Hyderabad Central University to set up a Badminton Academy by ace shuttler Pullella Gopichand and it was a matter of pride that the state has produced two top ranking players, PV Sindhu and Kidambi Srikanth, Mr. Lokesh said.
The AP Government would also allot to those interested in setting up Badminton academies in Amaravati.
Earlier, Mr. Lokesh inaugurated a new Badminton Academy on the premises of the Guntur Club on Palakaluru Road.
The tourney secretary Punnaiah Chowdary, Guntur Club secretary Chukkapalli Ramesh, Tenali MLA Alapati Rajendra Prasad was present.
