651 acres for six greenfield varsities.
The State government allotted 651 acres for the establishment of six greenfield private universities in four districts through G.O. RT No. 183 recently.

The universities which got the land are:

Amity University in Amaravati and Visakhapatnam (total 90 acres), Centurion University in Vizianagaram (125 acres), Veltech University at Kalahasti in Chittoor district (50 acres), Saveetha Amaravati University in Amaravati (166 acres), World Peace University in Visakhapatnam (70 acres) and Accord University in Visakhapatnam (150 acres).

This is a follow-up to the enactment of the A.P. Private Universities (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2016, which is intended to attract private investments in higher education to impart high quality, research-oriented and industry relevant education of international standards to students.

For this purpose, the Higher Education Department had developed a land policy in consultation with the Law, Revenue and Finance departments.

Fridayís land allotment is done at the rate of 110 square feet per student for academic and administration, 90 square feet per student for hostel/accommodation and floor area ratio of 1:2 as per a formula arrived at by the said committee as per the market value to be determined by the district Collector concerned.

The Collectors of Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam and Chittoor districts, Commissioner of CRDA have been instructed to take necessary action.
