Naidu to lay stone for convention centre.
During the CII Partnership Summit from February 24 to 26 in the city, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation for a convention centre here and Kia Motors to be established in Anantapur district, according to HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao. LuLu Group will take up the construction of the convention centre.

He told reporters here on Monday that the foundations would be laid on February 26. The summit would be much larger than the earlier ones with ministers from 18 countries and 2000 delegates, including several tycoons, would attend. Vice-President M. Venkaiah Naidu, Union Industries Minister Suresh Prabhu and Civil Aviation Minister P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju will participate in the summit. On the concluding day, Art of Living founder Sri Ravi Shankar will address.

Agreements

Mr. Srinivasa Rao said many of the agreements reached during the last two summits materialised compared to ones in Vibrant Gujarat. As many as 876 MoUs worth ₹10.97 lakh crore expected to provide employment to 14.96 lakh were in various stages. In the 2016 summit, only Visakhapatnam accounted for 20 MoUs worth ₹23,980 crore providing job opportunities to 37,500. In 2017 also 20 MoUs worth ₹ 13,616 crore were reached and they would provide employment to 64,710, the Minister said.

Earlier, he reviewed the arrangements with Collector Pravin Kumar, G.S. Shiv Kumar of CII, Andhra Pradesh, DIC General Manager Ramalinga Raju and APIIC Zonal Manager Yetirajulu.
