Arvind plans apparel park, textile unit in AP.
Arvind Ltd., the Lalbhai Group entity, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Andhra Pradesh Economic Development Board (APEDB) to set up an integrated apparel park in Chittoor.

The MoU was signed between Kulin Lalbhai, Chairman & Managing Director, Arvind Ltd, and J Krishna Kishore, Chief Executive Officer, APEDB, in the presence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

Arvind Ltd, the flagship company of the Lalbhai Group, plans to establish an integrated apparel and textile facility in Andhra Pradesh.

Output

This integrated facility will be established in multiple phases across 100-125 acres with a capacity to produce 24 million pieces of shirts and jeans per annum.

Arvind is India’s largest denim manufacturer, apart from being the world’s fourth-largest producer and exporter of denim.

This facility will see an initial investment of Rs. 250-300 crore, and is expected to create employment for around 15,000 in the first phase.

Arvind will also skill over 5,000 workers in garmenting in this proposed unit.

This facility would help Chittoor, a backward district to rapidly scale up on value-added industrialisation.

J Krishna Kishore, CEO, APEDB, said: “Textiles is a priority sector for Andhra Pradesh as the State aims to increase productivity and efficiency by attracting integrated textile units.”

“This integrated unit by Arvind puts fillip on India and Andhra Pradesh especially when global supply chains are moving towards South Asia,” he added.

Punit Lalbhai and Kulin Lalbhai, Executive Directors, Arvind, said: “Arvind is really excited to enter Andhra Pradesh with a state-of-the art garment facility.”

The Chief Minister has been laying special impetus on textiles and garments due to its potential to create employment, especially to women.
