DP World keen to set up free trade zone at JNPT.
DP World is among the various multinational firms, apart from Foxconn, wanting to set up a facility at the proposed free trade warehousing zone (FTWZ) at JN Port.

Located on the West coast, it is expected to register an operating profit of Rs. 1,000 crore and Rs. 1,400 crore of profit before tax for the fiscal 2017.

The firm already has terminal operations at JN Port.

The port, which has awarded transporters to take care of a set of routes originating from JN Port, expects to see a 30 per cent drop in the number of trucks and 25 per cent drop in tariffs, JN Port Deputy Chairman Neeraj Bansal, said on Wednesday.

JNPT has recently awarded bids to four companies to serve five routes which will transport the cargo from the port to different parts of the country.

The bidders have won mandate for running trucks on five routes- from JNPT to Gujarat, to Goa and Bengaluru, to Nashik, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Indore and Hyderabad, to Ahmednagar.
