BEML partners with NHPC to develop solutions for hydroelectric power plant.

Defence PSU Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) to develop advanced solutions for hydroelectric power plants.

The collaboration will focus on enhancing desilting and dredging technologies to prevent dam sedimentation and mitigate urban waterlogging during monsoons. According to BEML, these solutions will facilitate faster clearing of canals and culverts while supporting dredging and desilting operations in inland waterways, coastal regions, ponds, and lakes.

Shantanu Roy, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of BEML, said, “Through this collaboration, we aim to enhance the efficiency of hydroelectric power plants and contribute to broader national objectives of improving infrastructure and water management systems.”

R.K. Chaudhary, CMD of NHPC, added that the solutions are expected to improve power generation efficiency and reduce maintenance costs at hydroelectric plants.

BEML further stated that, following successful pilot projects, the solutions will be scaled up and implemented across other hydroelectric plants nationwide.
