BEML, Siemens sign joint venture deal

Bangalore: Bharat Earth Movers (BEML) and Siemens have signed an agreement for jointly manufacturing and marketing stainless steel coaches for suburban rail systems.

BEML will manufacture stainless steel electric multiple units (EMUs). Siemens will manufacture the high-performance bogies and three-phase ( IGBT) propulsion system. Both will also jointly bid for purchase orders from Indian Railways and suburban trains operators such as Mumbai Railway Vikas Corporation .
