Gohain to focus on speeding up rail projects in North-East.
Safety and security, expansion and growth of railway infrastructure, passenger amenities and passenger services, improving punctuality, redressal of public grievances, expediting railway projects in North-East are the priorities listed by Rajen Gohain, who assumed the charge as new Minister of State for Railways recently.
Gohain is a Member of Parliament from Nagaon constituency in Assam. He was re-elected to Lok Sabha (4th Term) in May, 2014 from this constituency.
A graduate in Arts and Law, Gohain has been politically active right since his youth. He was founder member of Nagaon district unit of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP).
During his long parliamentary career, he has been Member of various committees, such as Standing Committee on Home Affairs; Committee on Papers Laid on the Table; Consultative Committee, Ministry of Agriculture; Standing Committee on Water Resources, among others.
