Malabar Gold is looking to set up manufacturing facilities in the jewellery hubs of Coimbatore and Kolkata.

The existing units at Kozhikode and Thrissur and UAE units make only basic mass products. Specialised products and handcrafted jewellery are sourced from goldsmiths and vendors across the country, especially Kolkata, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Kerala and Coimbatore.

The company is scouting for a location in Coimbatore. The facility is expected to come up in the next six months. Post this, Malabar Gold will also explore manufacturing options in Kolkata and Maharashtra.
