Rajasthan Government to Develop 14 New Industrial Areas Ahead of Investment Summit
The Rajasthan government is set to develop 14 new industrial areas across the state as part of its strategy to enhance its manufacturing sector and ensure the success of the upcoming 'Rising Rajasthan' investment summit. Scheduled to be held in Jaipur this December, the summit aims to attract significant investments and showcase Rajasthan’s potential as an industrial hub.
The Rajasthan State Industrial Development & Investment Corporation (RIICO) is spearheading the initiative, with plans to establish new industrial areas in key locations including Kankani, Bichoon, Salarpur, and Keru. The development will span 11 cities, with notable sites near Udaipur, Kota, Rajsamand, and Pali, according to a RIICO official.
The state government highlights Rajasthan’s extensive opportunities for industrial growth, noting its large workforce and substantial captive market. The manufacturing sector currently contributes approximately 24% to the state’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP). RIICO has already developed 419 industrial areas across Rajasthan, hosting over 44,400 functional industrial units.
One of the new developments, Kunjbiharipura near Jaipur, will offer 1,213 acres of land and is expected to attract industries such as FMCG, automotive, and heavy engineering due to its proximity to the capital. Another key area, Boranada Extension Industrial, will be situated near Jodhpur and is poised for textile, handicraft, and agro-processing industries.
Rajasthan’s draft export policy identifies several focus sectors for state exports, including gems and jewelry, textiles, apparel, handicrafts, dimensional stone, and agro and food processing. The new industrial areas will align with these focus sectors to boost exports.
In preparation for the summit, the state government has been organizing roadshows to attract investors, including a recent investor meeting in Mumbai. This meeting resulted in the signing of investment memorandums of understanding (MoUs) worth over ₹4.5 trillion with the Bureau of Industrial Promotion (BIP). BIP, the nodal department for the summit, is tasked with facilitating the three-day event aimed at drawing global investment, fostering innovation, and building partnerships in Rajasthan.
