Use of new Oracle database software highlighted

Islamabad: Pakistan financial institutions, telecom companies, entrepreneurs and defence-related organisations could ensure security of their records and make it more efficient by using the newly launched Oracle database 11g, as it provides complete security, compliance and reliability.

This was stated by the Oracle Regional chief (technology business) Amer Khan, while briefing the media persons about database 11g here on Friday. He said the database could be very beneficial to financial institutions, telecom companies, and defense-related organisations because it provides security and compliance with three-time manageability of record than the previous database.

Amer Kahn said: 'We have been receiving positive response from the commercial organisations such as banks, small entrepreneurs and telecom companies as the database was developed keeping in view their business requirements.' He said that 11g is a secure backup and auditing system beneficial to financial institutions particularly as it completely secures business confidentiality and offers disaster recovery.

Briefing about the new database 11g, he said it is of highest quality software ever developed by the company with more than 400 features. The Oracle Database 11g is built on 30 years of design experience delivers the next generation of enterprise information management. He said it meets the challenges of rapid growth, increasing data integration and data connectivity being faced by the customers and delivers the key features being asked by the Oracles customers.

The database helps organisations take control of their enterprise information, gain better business insight, and quickly and confidently adapt to an increasingly changing competitive environment. It's advanced self-management and automation features could help organisations meet service level agreements.

Amer said the Oracle has consistently led the industry in protecting database applications from planned and unplanned downtime with parallel backup and restore which helps improve the backup and restore performance of very large databases.

In addition, a new advisor - data recovery advisor - helps administrators significantly reduce recovery downtime by automating problem investigation, intelligently determining recovery plan, and handling multiple failure situations apart from the next-generation capability for storing large objects (LOBs) such as images, large text objects, or advanced data types, including XML, medical imaging, and three-dimensional objects, within the database.

The Oracle fast files offer database applications performance fully comparable to file systems. By storing a wider range of enterprise information and retrieving it quickly and easily, enterprises can know more about their business and adapt more rapidly.
