Class nudge to campus goal.
The construction work for the Nalanda University's upcoming campus is set to gain momentum with the varsity's official inauguration.
The construction work on the 452-acre sprawling campus would start in the first quarter of the next financial year, after the selection of the project management consultant.
The main architect of the project is B.V. Doshi of Vastu Shilpa, based in Ahmedabad.
The administrative head of Nalanda University, Sridhar V.K., said the construction process of the actual campus would gain momentum now because the entire varsity team is in Rajgir. 'Once the project management consultant is selected, the work would start on the new campus. The construction work would certainly start in early 2015,' he said.
A source in the university said the project management consultant for the upcoming campus would be selected before or in the university board’s meeting, scheduled to be held in February 2015. The role of the consultant is crucial in executing any big project. It chalks out plans and executes them on the ground.
Sridhar said: 'The project management consultant will play a key role in building the varsity's new campus. It would manage all the aspects of the execution of the project and we shall monitor its performance.'
