L&T Secures Contract for High Power Radars

Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured a significant contract from the Ministry of Defence, Government of India, for the supply of High Power Radars (HPR) to the Indian Air Force (IAF). These HPR systems, which serve as static sensors for long-range aerial surveillance with increased uptime, are equipped with advanced NextGen features and capable of remote operations. They are poised to enhance the IAF's capabilities in monitoring special zones of interest, as well as designating and tracking adversaries with optimal accuracy. The project, which is turnkey in nature, will be executed across multiple locations.

Additionally, L&T has signed a contract, as part of an earlier awarded major order, for the supply of indigenously developed Close-In Weapon Systems (CIWS) to the IAF. The CIWS, intended for deployment at various strategic locations across India, aims to safeguard vital assets from various low-flying, low-signature aerial threats, including Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. The CIWS comprises Air Defence Guns, Tracking Radars, a Search Radar linked to a Command & Control Shelter, along with associated simulators and communication equipment.

Both the CIWS and HPR systems will be manufactured at L&T's state-of-the-art facilities, in collaboration with industrial ecosystem partners, including Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) across India.

He emphasized L&T's dedication to design, development, precision engineering, and manufacturing of advanced platforms and systems for the Indian Armed Forces. Ramchandani reiterated L&T's commitment to enhancing the self-reliance of the Indian Armed Forces through continuous efforts and innovation.
