'Mega seed park at Thangadancha soon'.

The State government is constructing a state-of-the-art mega seed park at Thangadancha in Jupadu Bungalow mandal of Kurnool district with the technical knowhow of Iowa University, US, which could attract investment from reputed seed companies in the country, Agriculture Minister Somireddy Chandramohan Reddy said here on Tuesday.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for the seed park spanning 650 acres on October 9 last year and would allocate ₹190 crore in the first phase in the ensuing budget, the Minister said at a review meeting in the Collectorate conference hall.

It was aimed at producing qualitative seed to ensure that farmers are not subjected to losses due to spurious seeds and pesticides. Mr. Chandramohan Reddy asked the District Collector S. Satyanarayana to forward proposals for laying a 220 kv electrical line and construction of a processing unit, laboratory; administrative building; and compound wall, water and internal roads in the seed park.
