NTPC Simhadri seeks land for expansion project.

NTPC will invest over Rs. 5,000 crore on expansion of Simhadri Super Thermal Power Station near Parawada, about 60 km .

The district administration has been approached for allotment of site required for the Brownfield project.

'We have identified 800 acres near our plant area, which is suitable for expansion,' NTPC Simhadri Group General Manager A.K. Samanta told The Hindu when his comments were sought on the status of expansion.

The power major, which has 500MWx4 units at Simhadri located at Deepanjalinagar Township, is contemplating establishing 660MWx2 units with supercritical technology.

'As Andhra Pradesh is placed on high growth trajectory, NTPC sees good potential for power generation units,' Mr. Samanta said.

As it will be Brownfield project, the Stage-I and II of Simhadri and the new units would have common facilities.

NTPC wants to generate affordable and socially responsible power with green technologies.

Coal linkage will be made with Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. The construction and commissioning of new units will be completed in 52 months from the date of approval.
