Reliance Infra Secures Major Solar-Storage Project from NHPC.

Reliance Infrastructure Ltd has been awarded a significant contract by NHPC, a Navratna public sector enterprise, to develop a 390 MW solar power project integrated with a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS).

The project, which will have a total solar DC capacity of 700 MW and 780 MWhr of battery storage, was secured at a highly competitive tariff of ₹3.13 per kWh. This price point makes it one of the most cost-effective renewable energy projects in India. The contract was awarded following a competitive tender process that saw bids from 15 different companies, with the auction being oversubscribed by almost four times.

This new win marks a major expansion of the Reliance Group's renewable energy portfolio. When combined with the existing assets of Reliance Power—which include 2.5 GWp of solar and 2.5 GWhr of BESS—the group's total capacity now stands at over 3 GWp of solar DC and more than 3.5 GWhr of battery storage. This positions the Reliance Group as the largest player in India's integrated solar-plus-battery segment.
