Rolls-Royce, Triveni Engineering Partner to Manufacture Marine Gas Turbines in India.
Rolls-Royce Marine North America Inc. and Triveni Engineering and Industries Limited have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on 4MW marine gas turbine generators (GTG) for the Indian market. The partnership aims to establish end-to-end capabilities in India, covering design, development, manufacturing, and support of marine GTGs.
The collaboration is part of Rolls-Royce’s strategy to expand its presence in India’s defence sector. The company currently operates over 350 gas turbine generators globally, with more than 280 in service with the US Navy. The new 4MW GTGs will provide 33% more power than their predecessors, the AG9140 generators.
Triveni Engineering, a leader in high-speed gears, will contribute its five decades of rotary engineering expertise. Vice Chairman & Managing Director Tarun Sawhney announced that the company is setting up a new multi-modal defence facility for manufacturing, integration, and testing of naval marine equipment.
John Shade, EVP for US Business Development at Rolls-Royce Defence, emphasized India as a key strategic growth market for the company. The partnership aligns with India's push for indigenous defence manufacturing and is expected to strengthen the country’s naval defence ecosystem.
