Tehri PSP's First 250 MW Unit Operationalized by THDC.

THDC India Limited, a subsidiary of power giant NTPC Limited, announced the successful commercial operation of the first 250 MW unit of its ambitious Tehri Pumped Storage Project (PSP). The unit officially commenced operations at 00:00 Hrs on June 7, 2025.

The Tehri PSP, designed with a total capacity of 4x250 MW, marks a significant stride in India's renewable energy landscape, providing crucial peaking power and grid stability. The commissioning of this initial unit is a major milestone for THDC, showcasing its expertise in executing large-scale hydropower projects.

With the addition of this 250 MW capacity from the Tehri PSP, the total installed and commercial capacity of the NTPC Group has now reached 80,515 MW. This expansion further solidifies NTPC's position as India's leading power producer and reinforces its commitment to a diversified energy portfolio, including significant contributions from renewable and hydro sources. The Tehri PSP is poised to play a vital role in meeting India's growing energy demands while supporting the country's transition towards a sustainable energy future.
