"Versuni Establishes New Gujarat Unit for Production of Philips Airfryers and Garment Steamers"
Versuni's New Gujarat Unit Unveils Manufacturing Facility for Philips Airfryers and Garment Steamers
Versuni India has inaugurated its latest manufacturing facility in Bavla, near Ahmedabad, marking the commencement of Philips Airfryer production within India for the first time. Formerly recognized as Philips Domestic Appliances, the newly established Versuni unit in Gujarat is poised to have an annual manufacturing capacity of 5 lakh air fryers in Phase 1. This capacity can be further expanded to 10 lakh units in Phase 2, coinciding with the company's plan to commence the production of 2 lakh Garment Steamers. Previously, the company had been importing Airfryers for the Indian market.
Henk de Jong, CEO of Versuni, shared insights during his visit to the facility on Wednesday, emphasizing the strategic decision to increase local manufacturing. He stated, "Today around 70 percent of the products that we market to consumers in India are produced in the country. We aim to increase this to 90 percent in the coming years thanks to the strategic decision to open up a new factory in Ahmedabad."
The Ahmedabad unit represents Versuni's second manufacturing facility in India, with the first located in Chennai, where the company produces mixer grinders. This expansion signifies Versuni's commitment to enhancing its local production capabilities and contributing to the 'Make in India' initiative. The move is anticipated to not only meet the growing demand for Philips Airfryers and Garment Steamers in the Indian market but also strengthen Versuni's position in the domestic manufacturing landscape.
