2 More Industrial Areas to Come Up in Mysuru to Woo Investors.
In a bid to attract investors to Mysuru, the Industries Department decided to develop two more industrial areas.
It has also decided to acquire 2,000 acres for industrial area near Tandavapura between Mysuru and Nanjangud.
Though Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's native district has not attracted any major investments in the past 18 months, Asian Paints will invest more than Rs. 1500 crore to set up a plant near Nanjangud.
Disclosing this to media persons recently, joint director of District Industries Centre Shivashankar said there is a proposal to develop an industrial area on 500 acres at Adakanahalli and another near Kalahalli.
He said land acquisition for Tandavapura industrial area where a textile park is likely to come up will be completed soon.
When asked if the paints industry would not pollute Kapila which feeds prominent cities in both Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Shivashankar said the investors have adopted most advanced technology and have been asked to take permission from the State Pollution Control Board.
Wipro has also shown interest to set up a unit on 50 acres in the city, he claimed.
He said investment is likely to come to Tandavapura where the government has enough land and creation of land bank will further boost the investment prospects.
