BEL Secures ₹2,000 Crore Radar Contract from Defence Ministry.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) recently announced the signing of a significant contract with Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) for the procurement of Air Defence Fire Control Radars for the Indian Army, valued at an estimated ₹2,000 crore.

These indigenously developed Fire Control Radars will boast a minimum of 70 percent indigenous content, a move that aligns with India's push for self-reliance in defence manufacturing. According to an official statement from the Ministry, these advanced radars will be capable of detecting a wide array of aerial threats, including fighter aircraft, attack helicopters, and enemy drones.

The acquisition is set to mark a crucial milestone in the ongoing modernization efforts of the Indian Army's Air Defence Regiments, significantly enhancing their operational readiness and overall capabilities. Beyond bolstering national security, the Ministry emphasized that this contract will also contribute to the nation's economic growth, supporting domestic industry and job creation.
