Bridgestone Commits $85 Million to Expand Premium Tire Production and R&D in India.

Bridgestone India Private Ltd (BSID), a subsidiary of Bridgestone Corporation, has announced an $85 million investment to expand its premium passenger tire production and development capabilities in India. This strategic move aims to enhance Bridgestone’s manufacturing output and technological innovation, strengthening its foothold in India’s growing tire market.

The investment will upgrade the company’s Pune and Indore plants, increasing Pune’s production capacity by 1.1 million tires annually by 2029, while Indore will begin producing premium tires to meet rising demand in India’s automotive sector. Additionally, BSID will open a satellite technology center at the Pune plant in 2025, dedicated to developing “Dan-Totsu” products based on Bridgestone’s advanced “ENLITEN” technology, which enhances fuel efficiency and durability.

Bridgestone views India as a vital growth market, driven by economic development, increased vehicle ownership, and a demand for high-performance tires, particularly in the High Rim Diameter (HRD) segment. The investment aligns with Bridgestone’s Mid-Term Business Plan (2024-2026), emphasizing high-quality growth and sustainable practices while contributing to local economic development.
