Tata Power RE Completes 198 MW Wind Project in Karur.

Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), the renewable energy arm of Tata Power, has commissioned a 198 MW wind energy project in Karur district of Tamil Nadu.

The project has been developed under the Group Captive model and will supply clean power to Tata Steel. It comprises 55 wind turbine generators, each with a capacity of 3.6 MW, and is designed to generate around 31 million units of electricity annually. The project is expected to offset about 26,350 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions every year.

TPREL said the project has been executed entirely through its in-house Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) capabilities, without relying on original equipment manufacturers for key stages of implementation. The scope included balance of plant works, civil infrastructure, engineering and construction, as well as transmission line development.
