Gunadala RoB works to begin in 10 days.
The much-delayed works on the Road-over-Bridge (RoB) at Gunadala are likely to commence within 10 days with the Krishna administration in coordination with other departments concerned deciding to expedite the works to ensure a hassle-free drive for motorists.
The project taken up at an estimated cost of more than Rs. 36 crore has been in limbo for the last one year owing to reasons best known to the officials. But, the pace of implementation picked up speed after Krishna Collector Babu A. inspected the site and took stock of the situation on Wednesday. He asked the officials to expedite the land acquisition for the early completion of construction works.
'We are coordinating with revenue and discoms to begin the works in 10 days,' confirmed an R&B official on Thursday. One arm of the RoB will land on the Eluru Road while another at Don Bosco School towards Nunna Road to enable motorists travel without hiccups. At present, they have to travel through three narrow bridges on Budameru, Eluru and Ryve’s canals along with a railway gate resulting in inconvenience to them.
The official said a few pillars had already been erected towards the road leading to Nunna at Don Bosco School while the remaining would be laid after removal of high-tension wires, electrical poles. 'We have already paid Rs.80 lakh to power distribution companies for shifting the high-tension wires and electrical poles,' he said.
Urban Tahsildar R. Siva Rao said efforts were on to acquire 2,053 square yards along with government land. 'We are finalising the compensation amount to be given to land owners,' he added.
