Himachal Pradesh cancels 115 industrial units
New Delhi: The Himachal Pradesh industries department has come down heavily on 115 industrial units for not setting up their units despite several reminders.
“We had sent the third and last notice to 163 units recently asking them to explain why there was delay in setting up their units. We have received only 48 replies,” said Mahesh Sharma, joint director, state industries department.
“Atleast 115 units have not even bothered to reply to our notice within the specified period, so we have finally taken the decision to cancel their allotments,' said Sharma.
The list of these units was made with help of the Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board(HPSEB) which allots power to all industrial units in the state.
A major attraction for industry migrating to the hill state is the Central excise package announced in 2003 by the Centre. The proposed investment by these industrial units is estimated at over Rs 30,000 crore.
This package is due to expire in 2010. The state state government is trying to extend this to 2013.
