IIL's Rs 40-crore R&D facility becomes operational.

Agrochemicals firm Insecticides India Ltd. recently said its Rs. 40-crore joint venture research facility at Chopanki in Rajasthan has become operational.

The research and development (R&D) facility is set up by OAT and IIL Laboratories Ltd., a joint venture company between IIL and Japanese firm OAT Agrio Co Ltd.

'The facility is spread across Rs. 25,000 square feet having state-of-the-art R&D centre. In this facility, the scientists of India and Japan will work together under one roof to research and invent agrochemical molecules to control pests, weeds and diseases affecting the crops,' IIL Managing Director Rajesh Aggarwal told reporters.

Aggarwal added that the facility is situated adjacent to company's Bhiwadi plant and it can synthesize and eveluate 7,000 compounds per year.
