Mannuthy-Mundoor Bypass Road Work to Begin Soon: CM.
More than 13 development schemes specific to the district will be implemented, announced Chief Minister Oommen Chandy in the inaugural ceremony of mass contact programme conducted at Thekkinkad Maidan recently.
Several long-awaited schemes like the construction of a flyover at the heavily-crowded West Fort Junction and Guruvayoor and the Choondal Guruvayoor road development schemes will be implemented from the amounts allotted in the budget and the annuity schemes. The Guruvayoor flyover will be tendered and the construction will commence soon. The cost will come around Rs. 120 crore.
Thrissur IT Park, four schemes for increasing availability of drinking water and renovation of Thekkinkad Maidan have been indicated in the schemes put forth by the Chief Minister.
The construction of Mannuthy-Mundoor bypass road will also commence soon. 'The first phase of construction will encompass the Mannuthy-Viyyur stretch, where the land acquisition required is minimal. More than nine acres of land in the Puzhakkal area will be provided for the construction of Thrissur mobility hub. Twelve acres of land belonging to Keltron will be handed over for the construction of the hub,' he said.
Almost Rs. 75 crore will be allowed for the development of the kole farms, the Chief Minister said. 'An amount of Rs. 128 crore was initially requested for the development of Kole farms. We have provided the initial Rs. 75 crore and the remaining Rs. 58 crore will be handed out later,' he said.
Another scheme that figured mainly in the Chief Minister's speech was the construction of sea walls in the coastal areas, where the fickle weather is a perpetual issue for the fishermen.
