Chennai Metro Rail (CMRL) officials engaged in discussions with Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) and local authorities regarding the proposed extension of the Mass Rapid Transport System (MRTS) from Bommasandra in Bengaluru to Hosur, passing through Attibele.
The planned MRTS line, spanning approximately 23 kilometers-11 kilometers in Tamil Nadu and 12 kilometers in Karnataka—will feature 12 metro stations and a depot along the route.
CMRL is advancing a Detailed Feasibility Study Report (DFR) for the extension, as directed by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs and approved by the Tamil Nadu government. The report's preparation is nearing completion.
On Tuesday, M.A. Siddique, Managing Director of CMRL, met with M. Maheshwar Rao, Managing Director of BMRCL, at BMRCL headquarters to review the project’s key features. The meeting also included discussions with T. Archunan, Director (Projects), R.K. Reddy, Director (Project Planning) from BMRCL, and T. Livingstone Eliazer, Chief General Manager (PP&D) from CMRL, along with other officials and consultants from Balaji Railroad Systems Private Limited JV and Habog Consultants Private Limited.
Following this, the CMRL team, accompanied by consultants, traveled to Hosur to confer with Krishnagiri Collector K.M. Sarayu, Hosur Corporation Commissioner H.S. Srikanth, and Hosur Sub-Collector Priyanka.
