Navi Mumbai International Airport to Commence Operations by March 2025, Announces Murlidhar Mohol

Minister of State for Civil Aviation, Murlidhar Mohol, announced on Saturday that the Navi Mumbai International Airport is on track to commence operations by March 2025. During his inspection of the airport site alongside Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Mohol expressed confidence in the project's progress.

"Based on the current pace of work, we expect the airport to be operational by March next year. This new facility will significantly enhance connectivity with Mumbai, Pune, Thane, Kalyan, and western Maharashtra," Mohol stated, highlighting its international standards and projected annual footfall of nearly 20 million passengers.

The minister advocated for naming the airport after the late PWP leader DB Patil, reflecting on his contributions. Mohol also assured that issues concerning compensation for project-affected persons (PAP) would be resolved through discussions with the management.

"We are committed to ensuring that those who have contributed land for the airport project are treated fairly and their concerns addressed," Mohol emphasized, underscoring the government's sensitivity to project-related issues and compensation matters.

Mohol acknowledged Prime Minister Modi's continuous support for Maharashtra's development projects. Regarding the outcome of the Maharashtra council elections, he praised the performance of the Mahayuti alliance and suggested that the Congress should introspect on its internal challenges.

In the recently concluded biennial elections for 11 legislative council seats, the ruling Mahayuti alliance secured victories in all nine contested seats, while the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi faced a setback as a candidate supported by NCP (SP) was defeated.
