Sri Lanka for promoting budget hotels

New Delhi: Sri Lanka is looking for investments from Indian hotel chains for setting up budget hotels there.

This emerged at a 40-minute meeting that the Sri Lankan Tourism Minister, Mr Milinda Moragoda, had with the Minister for Tourism & Culture Minister, Ms Ambika Soni, here on Monday.

At the meeting, the two Ministers agreed to convene the meeting of the joint working group between India and Sri Lanka at a convenient date to accelerate the pace of cooperation in tourism sector.

According to provisional estimates, during 2006, India received 1,54,813 tourists from Sri Lanka.
