Tata Power Renewable Energy (TPREL) announced recently the signing of a pivotal Power Delivery Agreement (PDA) with Mukand, a prominent Bajaj Group enterprise recognized for its prowess in manufacturing specialty steel long products and heavy machinery in India.
As a subsidiary of Tata Power, TPREL is poised to construct a substantial 43.75 megawatt (MW) AC group captive solar project in Jamkhed, Maharashtra. The solar installation is anticipated to produce a staggering 99.82 million units (MUs) annually and is set to make a significant environmental impact by offsetting around 54,687 CO2 emissions per year, as reported by TPREL.
The primary objective behind this innovative venture is to address the escalating energy demands of Mukand while concurrently enhancing the eco-friendliness of their stainless-steel manufacturing processes and production. TPREL has taken the responsibility of overseeing the construction, operation, and maintenance of this group's captive solar power plant.
Scheduled for commissioning by March 2024, TPREL has underlined its unwavering commitment to maintaining stringent quality standards and specifications throughout the project.
The core mission of the solar power plant is to cater to Mukand's energy requirements while instilling environmentally conscious practices within their stainless-steel manufacturing operations. TPREL believes that this initiative further underscores its dedication to empowering partners in adopting non-conventional energy solutions.
With the addition of this project, TPREL's total renewable capacity has reached an impressive 7,946 MW, comprising 3,755 MW projects currently under various stages of implementation. In terms of operational capacity, TPREL now boasts 4,191 MW, which includes 3,185 MW in solar energy and 1,006 MW in wind energy. This milestone reaffirms TPREL's position as a key player in the renewable energy landscape.
