Tenders Issued for Visakhapatnam Metro Phase 1 Construction by APMRC.
The Andhra Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (APMRC) has initiated the bidding process for the first phase of the Visakhapatnam Metro Rail Project, inviting tenders for Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) works valued at ₹6,250 crore.
The tender notification details the scope of work, which includes the EPC of a 46.23 km viaduct across three corridors. Notably, this encompasses 20.16 km of a unique Double Decker 4 Lane Flyover cum Metro Viaduct and 42 elevated Metro stations for Phase 1 of the project in Visakhapatnam. Prospective bidders have until August 11, 2026, to submit their proposals.
This development follows the State Cabinet's earlier approval for 40 percent of the expenditure for the first phase of the Metro Rail project. This initial phase is slated to be undertaken on a 50-50 Joint Venture basis, with an estimated total cost of ₹11,498 crore for Visakhapatnam city. The invitation for bids marks a significant step forward in bringing the long-anticipated Metro Rail system to the port city.
