150 Acres Allotted for for Petroleum Varsity.
The Andhra Pradesh government recently allotted 150 acres at Anthakapalli village in Visakhapatnam district for setting up petroleum university.
The new university will be established under the Union Ministry of Petroleum. It will take three years to build the university.
Under the AP Reorganisation Bill, 2014, the Centre had sanctioned 11 national-level institutions like IIM, AIIMS, IIIT, IIT, IISC, NIT, petroleum, tribal and agriculture universities to new residuary AP.
The proposed university in Visakhapatnam would be the fourth petroleum university in the country.
Currently, there are three petroleum universities across the country - the University of Petroleum & Energy Studies (UPES) in Dehradun (Uttarakhand), Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) located in Gandhinagar (Gujarat) and Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Petroleum Technology (RGIPT) in Uttar Pradesh.
