₹1,410 cr. Central funds sought for elevated corridors.

Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has requested the Central Government to take up works on construction of elevated corridors on the highways connecting Warangal, Bengaluru and Vijayawada to ease the traffic congestion on these routes. The Chief Minister spoke to Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari over telephone and wanted the Union Ministry to sanction ₹950 crore for the construction of 6.4 km elevated corridor from Uppal to Ghatkesar on the Hyderabad-Warangal highway. The Centre should grant ₹290 crore for taking up elevated corridor of 10 km from Aramghar to Shamshabad airport on the Hyderabad-Bengaluru highway and another ₹170 crore for utility corridor (including service roads) of 26 km on Hyderabad-Suryapet-Vijayawada route. The total proposals amount to ₹1,410 crore. The Union Minister responded positively to the request and assured that necessary funds would be sanctioned for the works. The Chief Minister spoke to Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao, presently in New Delhi, to meet the Union Minister and submit a memorandum on the State’s request.
