Adani Green Energy Limited unveils mega battery storage facility in Gujarat.
Adani Green Energy Limited has commissioned a 3.37 gigawatt-hour (GWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) at Khavda in Gujarat, marking the world’s largest single-location battery storage deployment outside China and one of the fastest utility-scale installations globally.
The company said the project was completed within 10 months of construction. The latest phase included the addition of 1.37 GWh capacity in March 2026, taking AGEL’s total operational BESS capacity at Khavda to 3.37 GWh.
According to the company, the storage system can supply enough clean energy to power nearly one million homes for a full day or keep more than 12 million LED bulbs illuminated continuously for 10 hours. AGEL said the project is expected to strengthen grid reliability, stabilize renewable energy networks and support round-the-clock green power supply.
