MSRDC Moves to Fast-Track Slum Redevelopment with New Dedicated Team.
The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) has set up a specialized unit to oversee the redevelopment of more than 24,000 slum tenements across Mumbai, marking a significant expansion of its role beyond traditional infrastructure projects.
The move is part of the agency’s broader efforts to improve urban living conditions while supporting the city’s ongoing slum-free initiatives. By focusing on large-scale slum redevelopment, MSRDC aims to enhance housing standards, urban planning, and sustainable development in some of Mumbai’s most densely populated areas.
Officials said the dedicated unit will coordinate planning, implementation, and monitoring of the redevelopment projects, ensuring faster execution and better oversight. The initiative reflects the government’s push to integrate social development objectives into state-run infrastructure agencies’ portfolios.
