Airbus Ready to Invest in India to Accelerate Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) Production

Airbus is open to making investments in India to expedite the production of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) when suitable opportunities arise, according to Julien Manhes, the head of SAF at the European aircraft manufacturer. In an interview with Business Standard, Manhes stated, "We are helping projects to accelerate (SAF production) by bringing funds. We are not going to become fuel producers. But where our money can help, we are willing to consider investing it," citing Airbus's involvement in similar initiatives in Australia.

Manhes highlighted the collaboration between Qantas Airways, Airbus, and the Queensland government in March 2023, where they announced joint investment in a biofuel production facility. This example illustrates Airbus's proactive approach in supporting projects that contribute to the acceleration of sustainable aviation fuel production.

As the aviation industry increasingly focuses on sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint, investments in SAF production play a pivotal role. Airbus's willingness to explore investment opportunities in India aligns with its commitment to fostering environmentally friendly practices and supporting initiatives that contribute to a more sustainable aviation future.
