"Allcargo Gati Inaugurates Fifth Super Hub in Karnataka for Enhanced Logistics Operations"

In a strategic move to fortify its position in the express distribution and supply chain management sector, Allcargo Gati Ltd has unveiled its fifth super hub, the Surface Transhipment Centre and Distribution Warehouse (STCDW), located at Mayasandra, Hobli, on the outskirts of Bengaluru, Karnataka.

Spanning an impressive 3.5 lakh sq. ft., the facility boasts a Grade A warehouse covering 1.5 lakh sq. ft. The proximity of the upcoming Hosur Outer Ring Road, a mere 1.5 km away, is expected to enhance accessibility and connectivity, according to the company.

The STCDW is designed to cater to diverse industries, including automotive, apparel, heavy engineering, and retail. Noteworthy features include 70 truck bays, facilitating the management of over 500 vehicles daily. The hub is equipped to handle a daily throughput of 1,600 tonnes and a monthly throughput of 40,000 tonnes.

Pirojshaw (Phil) Sarkari, MD and CEO of Gati Express and Supply Chain Pvt. Limited, expressed confidence in the new facility, stating, “With advanced infrastructure, ramped-up cargo processing capacity, and sustainable initiatives, the STCDW will strengthen our position in the express logistics space. In the next phase of infrastructure development, we are in the process of setting up STCDWs with Grade A warehousing facilities across India.”

The Mayasandra STCDW launch aligns with Gati’s ambitious plan to establish 21 modern, automated, and environmentally friendly STCDWs. Previous hubs have been successfully established in Farukhnagar (Gurugram), Nagpur, Guwahati, and most recently in Bhiwandi (Mumbai), with the infrastructure expansion initiative commencing in Farukhnagar in 2021.

Looking ahead, the company plans to invest ₹40 crore in the upcoming four hubs, scheduled for completion in the financial year 2024. A company spokesperson emphasized their asset-light approach, stating, “We are an asset-light company and don’t own our warehouse. We take long lease positions on them.”

In a commitment to sustainability, Allcargo Gati aims to transition its entire pickup and delivery fleet, consisting of more than 2,500 vehicles, into alternative fuel vehicles by the year 2025.
