Andhra plans to develop 2,000-MW nuclear power plant

Hyderabad: Even as top private infrastructure companies in India drawing up plans for setting up nuclear power plants, the Andhra Pradesh Government has asked the State generation utility to prepare a plan to establish a 2,000-MW nuclear power plant in the State.

The Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, has asked the officials of APGenco (AP power generation utility) to prepare a preliminary project report to set up the plant.

“We are keen on cashing in on the favourable developments with regard to nuclear deal with the fuel supplier countries. We will discuss the project in detail after getting the preliminary report,” he said.
