Andhra Pradesh CM to lay stone for coffer dam today.

Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu will lay the foundation for the coffer dam of the Polavaram project on Thursday.

Mr. Naidu is determined to complete the project as per schedule and release water through gravity by 2018. He has been visiting the project site every month to inspect the progress, according to an official press release.

The coffer dam is proposed to divert water from the Godavari through an approach channel to facilitate construction of the earth-cum-rock-filled (ECRF) Dam.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to design an iconic bridge on the spill channel to develop the project site as a tourist spot. The designs of the iconic bridge across the spill channel of the project are ready.
