AP to invite tenders for Polavaram hydel project.

The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation Ltd. is gearing up to invite tenders shortly for the construction of the 960 MW Polavaram hydro electric project.

This was revealed after a review meeting on the Polavaram project by the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held recently.

The long pending Polavaram multi-purpose project has now become a national project and its funding and implementation is being backed by the Central Government.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister directed officials to document the Polavaram project to preserve its historical significance.

He asked officials to speed up the setting up of the proposed museum and expedite model project house works.

As per plans, the diaphragm wall works of the Polavaram project will commence on January 7, 2017. Thus far about 13.87 lakh cubic metres of excavation works have been completed.

The Government proposes to make Polavaram project a case study for engineering students. Students from various educational institutions would get an opportunity to visit the site and see how the project is being implemented.
