APSRTC to introduce e-ticketing facility

Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) will be introducing e-ticketing facility on its Web site next month.

The Corporation has handed over the project to Bharat Electronics Ltd (BEL) and Radiant Infotech Ltd for about Rs 3 crore. It was actually implementing e-ticketing for bus passes and also tickets sold through different authorised counters, however, it is not put in public domain.

According to Mr U Sudhakara Rao, Executive Director (Engineering and IT) of the corporation, currently, there are 6,500 seats available through e-ticketing platform.

While the corporation is earning Rs 225 crore (Rs 100 crore come from city bus passes), it expects a business of Rs 330 crore through e-ticketing once the system is put in place fully.

Initially, the corporation wants to launch e-ticketing in Visakhapatnam and a few other tier-II towns, apart from Mumbai. After its successful implementation, the Mahatma Gandhi Bus Station (Imbliban-Hyderabad) and Pandit Nehru Bus Station (Vijayawada) will be integrated along with all other bus stations.
