Ashok Leyland Set to Get Lankan Order for 2200 Buses.

The Sri Lankan government is set to order 2,200 buses for the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) at a cost of LKR 5 billion (USD 38.2 million) from Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC., a Joint Venture between Ashok Leyland of India and the Sri Lankan government.

The media quoted Lankan Transport Minister, Kumara Welgama, as saying that the government was negotiating with Lanka Ashok Leyland PLC for supplier's credit. On its part ,the government will give the SLTB, LKR 1 million a year for five years. The SLTB will have to bear the rest of the cost.
