Bajel Projects Secures Major Transmission Line Agreement in Egypt.

Bajel Projects Limited, the power transmission EPC arm of the Bajaj Group, has formalised an agreement with the Egyptian Electricity Transmission Company (EETC) for the construction of two contiguous sections of a 500 kV overhead transmission line (OHTL) in Egypt.

The agreement for Lot 1 and Lot 5 was signed at a ceremony held in Cairo. The combined order, valued at over ₹400 crore, is part of Egypt’s national grid reinforcement programme aimed at strengthening the country’s high-voltage transmission infrastructure and improving power evacuation capacity to meet rising economic and industrial demand.

Commenting on the development, Bajel Projects Managing Director and CEO Rajesh Ganesh said the order marks a significant milestone for the company’s international expansion. He said securing a 500 kV transmission corridor in the MENA region reflects global confidence in Bajel Projects’ engineering capabilities, project execution expertise and ability to deliver complex high-voltage infrastructure projects.

The agreement further strengthens Bajel Projects’ position as an international EPC partner in the high-voltage transmission segment, complementing its domestic order book and recent overseas project wins.

The company said the Egypt order builds on its growing presence in the MENA region, including its 50:50 joint venture with Al Sharif Group in Saudi Arabia and the establishment of its Abu Dhabi-based subsidiary, Bajel T & D Projects and Contracting.

The signing ceremony was attended by Indian Ambassador to Egypt H.E. Suresh K. Reddy, highlighting the strengthening economic ties between India and Egypt and the increasing role of Indian engineering companies in the region’s power sector development.

The event was also attended by Eng. Mona Rezk, Chairman of EETC, and Eng. Ahmed Fathy, Head of Central Projects Sector, EETC.
