Barind begins water supply project in Dhaka
Rajshahi: Barind Multipurpose Development Authority has adopted a project to supply arsenic-free drinking water among the rural people through pipeline.
Sources said the main objective of the project is to supply round- the-year potable water to every household of the rural people in the targeted area.
The Tk 99.40-crore project titled ‘Drinking Water Supply from Irrigation Deep Tube-well’ was okayed at an ECNEC meeting on August 28, 2007, which will be implemented in 25 upazilas under Rajshahi, Naogaon and Chapainawabganj districts by 2012.
In addition to the extension of 40 water supply installations, 750 more installations will be set up along with arrangement of need- based water-testing equipment and chemicals under the project.
